Paris in Pictures!

OK! Here are picture from my first 24 hours spent in France...note that they are backwards (meaning that the first pictures here are actually what we saw last during the day) but you can still enjoy them :)

So here is the Eiffel Tower at night...we waited to go back to our hotel so we could se the light show that happens every hour, but it basically just ended up looking like this for about 10 minutes. Kind of a let down.

The entrance to the Louve! It's pretty cool...you walk into a glass elevator and then go down into the museum.

Here she is...the infamous Mona Lisa. Like everyone says, she is pretty small and always has a crowd of people around her. She is also protected by a huge case of bullet proof glass.

This is the 2nd of 3 really famous works of art at the Louve...Athena.

And here is the 3rd: Winged Victory (of something...I can't remember).

Before we went to the Louve, we visited Notre Dame. The outside of the Cathedral is famous for 2 things: flying buttresses, which give the entire building support (you can't quite see them in this picture) and gargoyles.

Circle stained glass windows in Notre Dame.

Entrance to ND. There was a service going on while we were there, being that it was a Friday during Lent.

Me, outside the cathedral :)

Luxembourg gardens! We actually took a nap here on Friday afternoon :)

The middle of the Champs-Elysses, looking back at the Arc du Triumph in the background.

Official proof that I was on the Champs-Elysees

Me, with the Arc. Napolean built this to honor himself. Good job, Napolean.

My friend Alex and I in front of the Tower!!! Alex is also one of my roommates for next year.

New favorite picture. EVER.

The view from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Unfortuately, it was really cloudy that morning so you couldn't see a whole lot. You can barely see the Arc du Triumph in the background.

More views from the tower.

The first sighting of the Eiffel Tower as we were walking to it that morning! An exciting moment!

...and those are just the pictures I have from the city! More to come from Versailles! :)
